Any chat transcripts, including missed chat transcripts, deleted from the Transcripts and Missed Chats pages are sent to the temporary Trash Can. This gives you the opportunity to restore the transcript before it's permanently deleted from the system. 

Transcripts will remain in the Trash Can for 30 days before being automatically (and permanently) deleted. You will see all deleted transcripts and missed chats, when the transcript was created, when it was sent to the trash, and the name of the user that deleted it.

To access the Trash Can for Chats, Admin-level accounts can:

1. Go to  Admin > Trash Can.
2. Click on the Chats tab.

Permanently delete transcripts

Once you've reviewed and confirmed that the transcripts in the Trash Can can be deleted, you can permanently delete them from here or allow the 30-day window to pass and have them deleted automatically.

If you want to delete them now you can:

1. Select transcripts to be deleted individually by clicking the checkbox in the Id column for each transcript.
   1. Or, select every transcript in the Trash Can by clicking the Select All checkbox.
2. Once you've selected your transcripts, select Permanently Delete from the Action dropdown menu.
3. Then click the Apply button to permanently delete the transcripts.

Restore deleted transcripts

If there is a transcript—or a whole bunch of transcripts—that were deleted accidentally, you have 30 days to rescue them from the Trash Can.

To restore your transcripts:

1. Select transcripts to be restored individually by clicking the checkbox in the Id column for each transcript.
   1. Or, select every transcript in the Trash Can by clicking the Select All checkbox.
2. Once you've selected your transcripts, select Restore from the Action dropdown menu.
3. Then click the Apply button to return the transcripts back to the Transcripts and/or Missed Chats pages.
