Adding an Innovative Polaris configuration to LibAuth

Getting there

To create and manage your LibAuth profiles, go to LibApps > Admin > LibAuth Authentication.

LibApps admin-level users can access LibAuth settings via the LibApps dashboard, under Admin > LibAuth Authentication.

Server Information

  • We use the Innovative Polaris Web Services API to talk to your Polaris server and allow patrons to log in via LibAuth. Please consult Polaris documentation or support to enable this service in your instance of Polaris.
  • You will need to obtain the following information:
    • The domain name of your Polaris system (i.e. catalog.library.org)
    • An organizational ID if you need to narrow the patron lookup to a specific library or branch (the default is system-wide)
    • The access ID for your Polaris system
    • The access key for your Polaris system

Adding a Polaris configuration

  1. If you have not yet created a LibAuth configuration, skip to Step 2. Otherwise, click on the Add Configuration button to create another one.

Click the Add Configuration button to start the setup process.
  1. Below the Search for Your Institution dropdown, click on the Manual Configuration link.

  1. Select Innovative Polaris as your authentication protocol.

  1. Under Server Info & Parameters, enter the domain name of your Polaris system (i.e. catalog.library.org) in the Domain field.
  2. If you need to limit the patron lookup to a specific branch or library, enter its Organizational ID.
  3. In the Access ID field, enter the access ID for your Polaris system.
  4. In the Access Key field, enter the access key for your Polaris system.

In the Server Info & Parameters fields, enter the Domain, Organizational ID (if needed), Access ID, and Access Key for your Polaris system.
  1. Give your configuration a name.
  2. If you'd like, you can also provide notes or details about this configuration for your reference.
  3. Click the Save Configuration button.

In the General fields, give your configuration a Name and optional notes, then click the Save Configuration button.
