Events: Customize a calendar's social media settings

In this article

By connecting your calendar to a Twitter and/or Facebook account, you can share your new events on your social media pages. This is a great way to help advertise new events and spread the word with your followers.

Before you can enable these options, you must first connect one or more Twitter or Facebook accounts to your LibApps account. For help getting started, check out the FAQs for setting up LibApps Social Channels. Only your LibApps admin(s) can set up your LibApps social channels, so be sure to work with them on this part.

Once you have your social media accounts connected to LibApps, you're ready to connect them to the calendar.

  1. Click on Events from the command bar.
  2. Click on the calendar's title from the Modify/View Calendar column on the Calendar List tab.

    1. If you'd like to enable sharing by default for new events, set the Share by Default option to "Enabled". Otherwise, event organizers will have to manually enable sharing for each event they create.
    2. Use the Twitter dropdown to select the Twitter account you'd like to connect to this calendar. This is the account that will be used when tweeting events on this calendar. (Each calendar can be connected to only one Twitter account.)
    3. Use the Twitter Template text box to create a default template for your tweets. This will serve as the default text for each new tweet, but event organizers will have the ability to customize it further. Use the {{TITLE}} and {{EVENT_URL}} tag as placeholders for the event's title and event page URL, which will be inserted automatically when publishing the tweet.
    4. Use the Facebook dropdown to select the Facebook account you'd like to connect to this calendar. This is the account that will be used when tweeting events on this calendar. (Each calendar can be connected to only one Facebook account.)

This will serve as the default text for each new post, but event organizers will have the ability to customize it further. Use the {{TITLE}} tag as a placeholder for the event's title, which will be inserted automatically when publishing the post.
  3. Click the Save button when finished.
