How to integrate your library's Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest accounts with LibApps social channels

By integrating your library's Facebook, Twitter, and/or Pinterest accounts with LibApps Social Channels, you can unlock additional functionality across your Springy sites.

  • Use LibAnswers to effortlessly manage your library's entire social media presence
  • Share new LibGuides content on Twitter and Facebook
  • Share new LibCal events on Twitter and Facebook

The purpose of this Springboard is to help LibApps Admin users set up their social channels integration, as well as help LibAnswers, LibGuides, and LibCal Admin users configure & use those social media features in each site.

Setting up social channels in LibApps

Any LibApps Admin user can connect to a Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest account by logging into LibApps and going to Admin > Social Channels Integration.

The Social Channels Integration option under the Admin menu

You can connect to as many accounts as you'd like, whether its one Facebook and one Twitter account, multiple Twitter accounts, etc.

Please note that the owner/administrator of each account will need to sign into them during the setup process. This is required for granting permission to LibApps to set up the necessary permissions with each social media account. These credentials are not stored in LibApps; rather, authentication tokens are used to maintain active connections with each account.

Once an account has been successfully added in your LibApps Social Channels Integration settings, it will become available for use in LibAnswers, LibCal, and LibGuides. The Admin users of those apps will be able to configure those integrations (for example, connecting a Facebook or Twitter account to a ticket queue in LibAnswers). The rest of this Springboard will focus on setting up and using your integrated social media accounts across your Springy sites.

Using social channels in LibAnswers

By connecting your Facebook, Twitter, and/or Pinterest accounts to LibApps, you can use LibAnswers to effortlessly manage your library's entire social media presence.

  • Monitor and respond to patron conversations happening in Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.
  • Publish new posts, tweets, and pins, or schedule them for future posting.
  • Follow relevant #hashtag conversations and measurably improve engagement with your library community.
  • Best of all, managing social media communication happens right alongside the existing communication channels in LibAnswers - email queries, question form responses, SMS/text, IM/Chat, Twitter, Facebook, and yes even Pinterest too - it's all here in a seamless, easy to use interface.

To get started, a LibApps Admin must first assign your connected social media channels to a ticket queue. Additional settings are available to help you choose which types of activity you want to monitor from each account.
