Look & Feel: Change the base language for your LibCal pages

In this article

By default, your system will be set with a base language of English, but you can change this to another available language. You can:

  • Change the base language to translate the text for everyone -- all visitors to your public pages plus for staff users logged into the admin side of LibCal.
  • Change the language on the fly, right on the public and admin pages. The new language appears only to the individual who made the update -- a great option for patrons and staff alike.

Currently, LibCal supports the following languages:

  • Chinese
  • English
  • French
  • Irish
  • Slovene
  • Spanish
  • Vietnamese
  • Welsh

If your preferred language is not available, please contact Springy support and we will work with you to add the necessary translation files to the system.

Choose a base language

LibCal admins can change the base language, which updates the language for everyone across all pages, both public and on the staff side.

  1. Go to Admin > System Settings from the command bar.
  2. Click on the Language Options tab.
  3. In the Base Language panel, select your preferred language from the Base Language dropdown.
    • If your current System Time Format is not supported by the base language you select, LibCal will automatically switch to a supported time format.
  4. Save your changes.
